Since I’m lucky enough to have an ongoing collection of great photos taken by my friend Karen, I was very excited to be contacted by the website EasyCanvasPrints about hosting a review and giveaway. At EasyCanvasPrints.com, you can upload personal photos and have them printed on any size canvas. The main “problem” was choosing which photo to send! After some debate, I decided to go with one of my favorite pictures of Alaina from our most recent photo session in April.
Here was the photo I submitted for my canvas:
I absolutely love this picture! The cheeks, the eyelashes, the puffy hair, the powerful shoulders…
It is really hard to take a good picture of a picture (especially if you are a non-photographer), but suffice to say that when the canvas actually arrived and I got it out of the box I almost cried it was so beautiful (you’ll just have to trust me, since, as I mentioned, hard to get a picture of a picture):
(I also have a lovely new dress that I bought from my dye-queen friend just this afternoon!)
Closer up picture. The quality of the canvas is very nice and the printing on it is beautiful—very clear and with a slight glossiness that looks like paint almost when you turn it.
I decided to hang it on the wall near my belly cast and think it is funny that it looks like she’s looking up at it—“hey, remember when?!”

Oh, My. It would be hard to pick just one picture. Such a cute one that you chose. I used to do a lot with photography, but got out of it when other things got busy. Seeing some of the great pictures that friends have done for you makes me think of picking up my camera a bit more and at least getting more pictures of my kids before they grow up.
Darn. I typed out a comment and lost it. 😦
Anyway… I was saying… As a coworker pointed out, my office is in desperate need of a family photo refresh. I last printed and hung photos when my oldest daughter was a few weeks old. That was several years ago. :S There are no print photos of my younger daughter, only digital.
If I win this giveaway, I promise to print a photo of both girls, to hang in my office.

What a perfect spot to display it! It makes me think that if I’m lucky enough to win, perhaps I need a picture of Mason next to my belly cast (or both kids, since I don’t have a belly cast for Lyra). Though I’ve also had a request for a large print of one of my birth pictures to hang in a midwife’s office. I wonder if they’d print such a thing…

Molly, I have a question for you about how good something might look on a canvas print. My sister had a canvas print done last year, but I have not seen it, so while I know she was excited about it, I really don’t know how things look on canvas. Since you have seen one, I wonder if you think the picture that I am going to describe would do well on canvas.
I had a Mother’s Day back when my kids were little that was just not going well. It was one of those weekends when I wondered why in the world I ever thought I could handle kids and being a mother. Being Mother’s Day was just making it worse. So, my husband, being the great guy that he is, took us all to the beach that evening to help us all relax. While we were there I got a picture of one of my boys that I just love. He was at the waters edge, and the water was low tide, so his reflection is in the picture, too. It is lots of blues, he is wearing navy shorts, and a white shirt that is the main accent of the picture. He is standing facing the camera, but looking to the side out into the water. The problem here is that I took the picture after sunset, which caused it to be slightly blurred. I love the picture. I turned it into a “watercolor” in photoshop to make the blur look more artsy. It did really well that way. The picture looks nice printed on watercolor type paper, but fades really easily. Having the picture normally printed just does not look as good. When my sister got her canvas done, I wondered if printing on canvas might look good with a picture like this. After seeing how your picture printed on canvas, do you think it might do well with something like this?
As for that night at the beach- I came home that night feeling much love for my children and more confident in my ability to be a good mother.
Well, you’ll get to find out because I drew numbers and you’re the winner! I’m not sure how the picture you describe would look on canvas–it sounds like it would work and it sounds like a meaningful memory to have preserved in that way!
